Access Ready Calls all Supporters to Action

An image shows an Electronic Poll Book on a stand displaying a voting interface for a 'Primary and Special Election.' The screen has a blue section on the left and a white section on the right. In the white section, there are the words 'PRIMARY AND SPECIAL ELECTION' in black text above a blue 'Launch' button. Below the Launch button, there are two smaller buttons labeled 'Maintenance' and 'Shut Down.' The tablet is set against a wooden background, and there is a visible orange clip on the right side of the tablet's case. The screen's top-right corner shows the date and time, 'Thu Jul 14 11:46 PM,' and a battery icon indicating full charge.

Access Ready Strategic has been working with VOTEC Corporation for eight years to bring independent voter check-in to the polls.

VOTEC prototypes have been very well reviewed by accessibility advocates and potential users.

VOTEC has been looking forward to the government advocating more forcefully for what the ADA and the Help America Vote Act require.

The Election Assistance Commission (EAC) stated a year ago that they would be prioritizing accessibility for ePoll Books as they are often called.

Unfortunately, the EAC refused to speak with vendors to learn the state of the art. They have written ePoll Book requirements that are a decade out of date.

Please read on to see what the EAC did poorly and our suggestion for an email that you could send to the EAC.

Correcting the EAC’s understanding could be a very visible win for the disability community. Please carve out a few minutes.

We are beginning to witness a pivotal transformation in the AI landscape, where technology trends, market demands, and generative AI capabilities are reshaping the industry. This article delves into the winners and losers emerging from these advancements, highlighting the importance of addressing the core issue of hallucinations in LLMs through innovative augmentation techniques like Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) and Memory-Augmented Models (MoME). By categorizing use cases into information retrievers, automators, copilots, and coworkers, I outline a strategic framework for leveraging augmented AI to stay ahead in a competitive market, emphasizing the success of companies like Apple and Microsoft, while cautioning against the pitfalls of ignoring AI augmentation.

As a Meta content moderator working at an outsourced office in Nairobi, Mercy was expected to action one “ticket” every 55 seconds during her 10-hour shift. This particular video was of a fatal car crash. Someone had filmed the scene and uploaded it to Facebook, where it had been flagged by a user. Mercy’s job was to determine whether it had breached any of the company’s guidelines that prohibit particularly violent or graphic content. In it, our protagonist Mitch attends a normal math lecture, but over the course of the montage most of the class is replaced by tape recorders of various sizes. In the final shot, Mitch enters the lecture hall to discover that a large reel-to-reel tape player has replaced the professor himself. It’s just one tape recording being played into all the other tape recorders.
